Dikutip dari laman republika.co.id, Selasa (13/8), Psikolog Saskhya Aulia Prima mengatakan, bahwa usia minimal anak boleh memiliki akun media sosial pribadi pada usia 13 tahun. Idealnya malah ketika anak sudah berusia 16 tahun.
Tapi, sebagai orang tua kadang lebih susah membatasi anak dalam menggunakan media sosial. Alih-alih melarang dan membuat anak melakukannya secara sembunyi-sembunyi, jauh baik mengedepankan prinsip keterbukaan membuka komunikasi intensif.
“Orang tua bisa memerhatikan rekomendasi media sosial dan gim yang akan digunakan anak,” ujar Saskhya.
Orang tua pun diajurkan untuk masuk dalam daftar teman anak di akun media sosialnya. Jangan lupa pula untuk mendampingi anak ketika mereka sedang berselancar di dunia maya.
Sashkya menyarankan agar ayah dan ibu sering berdiskusi dengan anak sebelum dan setelah buah hatinya menggunakan media sosial. Dengan begitu akan tercipta ruang pemahaman mengenai sudut pandang anak dalam menilai sesuatu dan anak bisa memahami batasan yang diminta orang tuanya.
Beritahu anak, tentang batasan-batasan dalam penggunaan media sosial. Dari soal kerahasiaan data pribadi, seperti akun dan password yang tidak boleh disebarluaskan, sampai tidak sembarangan mengunggah sesuatu di internet.
